Installation Site Overview
Berks Center for Digestive Health 1011 Reed Ave. Wyomissing, PA The Berks Center for Digestive Health is a full-service gastroenterology care center, housing offices for multiple practices and outpatient procedural rooms. The new tenant had the structure completely gutted and retrofitted for the purposes of a medical facility.
The Opportunity
Quickly delivered hot water is a necessity in a medical facility. After a procedure or exam, doctors and physicians do not want to wait for water to get warm to wash. Instant hot water is not only a comfort issue but also a sanitation one. Engineers were tasked with designing a completely new domestic hot water system that could deliver hot water rapidly and efficiently.
The Installation
Two centrally located “extra-high efficiency” water heaters and a ¼ HP circulation pump supply the three wings of the building with hot water. Circuit Solver is placed above the ceilings at the end of each branch, where the line returns to the main loop. More than 60 Circuit Solvers are installed to ensure efficient hot water delivery with minimal corrosion/ erosion of pipes. Circuit Solver was installed using a Pro-press or by sweating, where appropriate. From the preparation of fittings to the end of installation, each valve took on average 2 minutes to put in place.
The Result
The system efficiently delivers hot water to over 70 fixtures, including showers, sinks, safety showers, and mop basins. Since the system did not need to be balanced, the final commissioning date could be moved earlier.
